In good weather, on Monday evenings along the Rondout in Kingston, NY, people just seem to emerge into a park called The Strand.

All kinds of people. Some strangers, some old friends meeting each other.  The only thing they have in common is that some of them carry musical instruments.

They are here to sing and play together.  Some old tunes and learn some new ones.  And here is how it works:

Here the song is put together and  a musical piece is made.  

Not only is a song put together, but so are what had been strangers and who are now connected as friends.
